This session held a few firsts for me! My first time shooting in a corn field, and my first time doing portraits of a standardbred! Kerstin boards Prairie at Voight Farm in Monroe Township. They grow their own hay on the property – it also backs up to some lovely woods. But – across the street – CORN FIELDS! I was so excited to try something new and get the two of them cuddling in the gorgeous sunset light in that corn field. And it didn’t disappoint.
It also proved a point that Kerstin mentioned at one point during our session – standardbreds are so level-headed! We asked Prairie to tromp through corn fields and she happily obliged, she didn’t spook once at anything flying around in the corn or rustling through the stalks. Prairie’s dapples are also impressive – dapples for daaaaaays. We were lucky to be joined by Kerstin’s boyfriend, mother, and dog, so we had a little family affair for this session which was a lot of fun. This was the perfect session to close out summer – a warm evening, beautiful light, and a lovely pair of ladies.
Thank you Kerstin and Prairie for being game to try anything, and thank you Voight Farm for a lovely evening!
